This is the email I got yesterday: a link to the livejournal of britmandelo, with the Table of Contents for "Beyond Binary", the anthology she edited. I was glad when she accepted my story, Spoiling Veena.  I'm even gladder now. My jaw dropped when I saw this TOC. What great company I'm in!

So I just read about the World Shakespeare Festival, to be held next year in the Globe Theater on the banks of the Thames in London. They’re staging all of Shakespeare’s plays, each one in a different language. (India’s doing Much Ado About Nothing, with actress Meera Syal as Beatrice.)

Last night, I went to see a short film made from one of my stories, The Rumpelstiltskin Retellings. My story retells the fairy-tale as a series of poetic blogs by each character.

For those who don't recall the fairy-tale: ( it's here behind the cut.) )

The kick-off event was a reading and reception at A Room of One's Own, the bookstore. It looked quite tiny from outside, but turned out to be spacious and full of books and people. I found my Clarion classmate Julie, who'd gotten there earlier. Then we found Karen Joy Fowler, and got caught up.

Weeks Five and Six: Whirlwind

Ellen and Delia brought a sense of urgency to Clarion. They themselves had a number of other activities planned, but managed to make time for more activities for all of us.
